So let us introduce our first beauty, Fiona from Make Up Savvy…
Age: 22
City: Manchester
How long have you been blogging and what do enjoy most about it?
I've been blogging for just over a year now and I have to say there isn't any one thing that I enjoy the most about it. There are so many positive sides to blogging that it's hard to pick just one! Though I do enjoy reading all the interesting and lovely comments I receive.
What do you think it is about your blog that attracts your followers?
I am actually not too sure! Though I do like to think it's because everything I talk about is normally really affordable. Also I think people like that I talk about all different beauty related subjects.
Other than your own, of course, can you recommend 3 other beauty blogs worth checking out?
What is it that you look for in a blog before you decide to follow it?
I think the main thing I look for is if they update quite frequently and if they review a real mix of products!
What are your other passions outside of beauty/fashion/blogging?
Blogging does take up quite a lot of my time (which I ofcourse don't mind in the least). But my other real passion is interior design.
What would you consider the most important piece of beauty advice you have been given? And is there any advice of your own you would like to share?
I think the best advice I've been given has to be to remove all your makeup before bed, always! It is such a boring task to do every night but properly cleansing the skin should be the basis of everyone's skincare routine.
As for my own advice – it would have to be never to assume that spending more money on beauty products will result in better quality. Of course there are some beautiful high-end products out there, but there are also some amazing products out there for a lot less too.
Which product makes your statement the most? And how do you achieve your look?
a) Lipstick
b) Eyeliner
c) Blush
d) Bronzer
e) Mascara
Mascara. It 100% has to be mascara – I don't think I could ever be without it. I naturally have really light hair, which means almost white eyebrows and eyelashes. So mascara and eyebrow pencil make such a huge difference to my appearance and really give my face definition.
What is your favourite ‘look’ at the moment?
I think I must be quite boring as I only really have two looks that I do. My everyday makeup is just a soft bronze/brown/gold smokey eye with nude lips and then if I'm going out I like to skip eyeshadow and just stick to a nice flick of black gel eyeliner with a red or plum statement lip.
Which celebrities do you think are the current fashion and beauty trend setters?
I think it has to be Rihana and Jessie J at the moment for sure!
What is your favourite clothing label and why?
Without a doubt Asos' own brand, really affordable and always on trend.
If you could be living anywhere in the world right now, where would you be? And why?
I've always had a fascination with San Francisco and plan to get married there next year, so it would have to be there.
How long would you last without ANY makeup?
a) 1 day
b) 1 week
c) 1 month
d) No time! Never! No way!
1 week - As long as didn't leave the house I could easily last a week! Though if I had to go out, I'm sure I would only last a day!
What do you spend more money on?
a) Make-up
b) Clothes
c) Mobile phone
d) Your partner
e) Socialising
f) Family
Make-up… and also my home – I'm not too savvy when it comes to that and do like to treat myself to stupidly priced cushions and accessories!
If you could create your own signature beauty product for beautyuk what would it be and what would you call it?
I think it would have to be a concealer palette, consisting of maybe 12 different light to dark shades that you could mix - as this kind of product is sorely missing on the highstreet! I'd call it something cheesy like 'Conceal Me'.
When did you first hear about beautyuk? And where did you hear about us?
It must have been shopping in Superdrug in my teens years and years ago. Beauty UK have always stood out to me as being one of the most affordable yet interesting brands – even back then!
What is your favourite beautyuk product and why?
Well I do love all the glam nail polishes especially Smokey Lilac and Electric Blue, such amazing shades that really last on the nails. But my favourite product of all is the Metallic Eye Quad in Browns – just amazing pigmentation and so so soft that they almost have a buttery texture to them. Really great.
Are there any beautyuk products you are thinking of getting but haven’t tried yet?
Would love to try out the range of Metallic Eye Sparks and the new Lip Lusts especially Envy which looks such a beauitful shimmery shade of plum.
Thank you Fiona!! Now make sure you all go and check out her wonderful blog
